Paul Bracewell had hoped to continue where his former mentor left off. After a bright start to his managerial career (15 games unbeaten) a succession of draws led to a slide down the 1st division table.
Paul parted company with the Club after a loss at Ipswich in March 2000 virtually ended the team's play-off ambitions.
While another Fulham player, Karl Heinz Riedle took over at Craven Cottage, Paul soon found employment as the manager of Halifax Town.
Paul’s first task was to save the Shaymen from relegation to the Conference, something he achieved in the last week of the regular season.
He departed from the Shay in August 2001.
