Coach Education

COACH EDUCATION PROGRAMME

Fulham FC Community Scheme is an approved Centre, to deliver FA Coaching qualifications for the local community.

We are one of only several Clubs that have been approved which gives us the advantage of training and then recruiting our own coaches who then deliver sessions within our Community Programme.

FA LEVEL ONE COURSE

Coach EducationThe most popular course has been the new FA Level One Course or Clubs Coach Award. This course is the first level of the coaching structure and is aimed at junior managers, parents and students. On completion of the course the candidate should be able to: -

i) Promote and establish working relationships and high standards of behaviour with players, coaches, parents and officials in the overall development of football.

ii) Demonstrate an ability to identify and adapt football activities for differing age groups plus organise and supervise mini soccer.

iii) Achieve an awareness of related aspects: -

  • Coach Player Development
  • Football Administration
  • Health & Safety
  • Child Protection Awareness
  • Working with Parents
  • Laws of the Game
  • Attitude and Ethics
  • Long term Player Development

The course itself is 28 hours long and is delivered in various ways. Usually over five evenings and two weekends.

We have delivered the courses for a number of organisations such as: -

  • Kew Park Rangers FC
  • Kingston University
  • Brunswick Club
  • Lambeth Crime Prevention Trust
  • Roehampton University
  • West London Sports Trust
  • London Active Partnership

Anyone over 16 can attend the courses and at present we are compiling a list of candidates for some future courses. If you are interested please telephone Natalia Lodge on 0870 442 5432.

FA LEVEL TWO

This is the next level and is much more demanding than the Level One Course.

The course is 90 hours in duration and involves two assessed sessions and the course requires more technical knowledge in coaching.

You will learn about technical sessions in passing, heading, control, shooting etc. which then progresses into 6 v 6 mini soccer practises.

The Community Scheme will be delivering a course in May 2007 so if you are interested contact the Community office on the above number.

What the participants say...

"A really well organised course that was enjoyed by both the boys and girls students that took part. Some have since gone on to coach at clubs, schools, and to university to study coaching." John Whitlock head of PE for Esher College.

"I'm grateful to Fulham for putting on a course which is challenging and fun. It makes you think about your responsibilities as a coach and provides a good foundation for trying to meet them.

"The coach educators from Fulham were excellent - really passionate about what they do. I'm definitely more confident that I can help our kids have fun and develop as players and people which is probably what it's really about." Mike Hope.
