One of the strategic aims of the Foundation is to support other organisations in developing inclusive activity, whether they be other sports Foundations or local community amateur sports clubs. In addition to ongoing work with the Down’s Syndrome Association the Foundation currently has one other initiative in partnership with the Surrey FA
Surrey FA – Wandgas FC School|.
As part of a project to increase weekend sports provision for young people with disabilities, and to improve competition opportunities in the Surrey Primary League, Fulham FC Foundation are working in partnership with the Surrey FA.
The sessions take place on Saturday mornings and are delivered by the Foundations Disability Development Coach, with support from FA volunteers and focus on teamwork and football skills.
The idea of the project is to form new teams to participate in monthly Surrey FA disability tournaments by developing inclusive sections of existing community clubs. The template is to deliver a 6-8 week block of sessions, observed by volunteers who will then take on the delivery after undertaking their coaching qualifications.
