Following his equalising strike against Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday evening, David Healy took his goal tally to two in two. However, speaking after Wednesday’s win, the Northern Ireland striker was far from getting carried away.
“It’s been a good start for me personally so to mark my home debut with a goal was very pleasing,” he said.
“But I’m not going to start setting targets of scoring goals in every game because I know it’s not possible as a striker. When you play you are expected to create chances, not just for yourself but for others. If I can do that and nick the odd goal here and there, that’s the main thing.”
Following the disappointment of Sunday’s last minute defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, the message to the players was clear; a win against Bolton was a must, as Healy explained.
“We were disappointed with out outcome on Sunday. Although Arsenal had a lot of good chances, we had proper clear-cut chances. We were disappointed with the result on Sunday, the Manager more so than anybody else. We talked about it after the game and the main thing was that we won our home game against Bolton.
“The lads struggled a bit last year but hopefully with what they had last year and what the new players have added, there’s going to be more then enough to compete in this league.
“We’re looking forward to the challenge and there’s a big game on Saturday against Middlesbrough| and hopefully we can have the same outcome.”
