Fulham Football Club can confirm that Zat Knight has joined Aston Villa for a fee of £3.5million rising to £4million.
The central defender was brought to the Club by Kevin Keegan in 1999 from Rushall Olympic and made over 150 appearances for Fulham.
Speaking exclusively to fulhamfc.com, Knight said:
“I’ve been at Fulham for a long time so making the move is a bit emotional,” he said. “I’ve made a lot of good friends at Fulham and have seen a lot of people come and go – I feel part of the furniture so it’s definitely a hard decision to make. Hopefully I’ve made the right one.
“I feel quite blessed to have been at Fulham for so long. I really wish Fulham all the best. I’ve been there since the Second Division so I’ve got lots of fond memories of going up through the leagues and they’re memories that no one can take away from me.
“I would like to say a massive thank you to all the Fulham fans. I wish all the fans and staff the best.”
That Club would like to thank Zat for his services and wishes him all the best in the future.
