Friday 31st August 2007

Danny MurphyFulham Football Club can this evening announce the signing of Danny Murphy from Tottenham Hotspur in a year-long deal.

30-year-old Murphy joined Spurs in January 2006 making 9 appearances in the second stage of the season, and totalled 19 during season 2006-07.

One of the graduates of Dario Gradi's youth system at Crewe Alexandra, he made over 150 appearances before a £3million switch to Liverpool where he made over 200 appearances and won five trophies in his seven years at Anfield. He left Liverpool for Charlton at the beginning of the 2004/2005 season.

Able to play centrally, wide or just behind the front two, Danny has an impressive passing range with the ability to open up defences.

Lawrie Sanchez said:

‘Danny Murphy is a proven England international player with great vision, experience and ability. He can split the defence with a single pass and can score goals so I’m delighted he’s chosen to come to Fulham at this stage in his career. It’s been a busy last couple of days with many deals being done, but hopefully this concludes our business for the window and we can now concentrate on winning football matches, and climbing the table.’
