David Healy's superb second half strike at Craven Cottage on Saturday reinforced the striker's claim for a starting place against Reading this weekend.
Whilst expressing his disappointment with Saturday's result against Sunderland the striker discussed his recent lack of match action and his desire to put things right at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.
"I’m as disappointed as anybody who’s not in the squad or not playing. It’s not up to me. I’ve got to wait for my opportunity to come and hopefully impress the manager.
“When you’re playing and not scoring people are looking for other options and other players to play - I think that’s happened earlier in the season when I wasn’t playing very well and scoring goals.
“You see it happen all the time in football, especially with strikers. They rotate more than defenders or midfielders.
“Saturday was a huge loss and we are making it harder for ourselves. The disappointing thing is that Birmingham and Bolton lost and a win for us would have given the Club, the fans, the players and the manager a huge lift.
“We haven’t lost any more ground but we are running out of games. Saturday is a must win game and hopefully we can do it."
Despite a frustrating first season with the Club, Healy is clearly committed to the cause and expressed his desire to remain at the Cottage come what may.
“I’m as committed as anyone at the Club. It’s disappointing the amount of games that I have played. Everybody wants to play and score goals and I want to be a part of this, whatever the future is. Hopefully the future is bright.”
