Fulham Captain Brian McBride has highlighted the importance of maintaining a strong work ethic as the Whites go into the final four games of the season.
McBride’s first half goal at Reading last weekend spurred the Fulham on to a crucial away victory - and the Captain has called for more of the same this Saturday as the players complete their final preparations for the match against Liverpool.
“The atmosphere is now one of focus,” the Captain told fulhamfc.com. “We need to make sure that we’re ready and prepared for the next game. To be honest we’ve talked about cup finals for a few games now. Last Saturday we approached the game the right way and that’s the way we’re going to get results – by sticking together and working together.
“It was important that we had the right attitude from the beginning and were together as a team – from the back four onwards, we always had good pressure on the ball. One thing we did well was transition from defence to offence and we’ve got to continue that.
“It was definitely great to see Erik score that goal. It was a well taken and well worked goal. It was a fun day out but that was only possible because of the work ethic that we put out there.
“We have to focus on Liverpool now. The minimal requirement for that game will be for us to show the same attitude. It’s been great having the fans behind us and we really do appreciate them.
“But we need to make sure we’re focussed on winning the game. We know it’s going to be a tough task, we’re not kidding ourselves around - but we need to make sure that we have belief that we can do it and follow through on that.”
