Australia 2-2 South Africa

SchwarzerFulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer returned to Motspur Park on Wednesday morning after turning out for Australia on Tuesday evening as the Socceroos drew 2-2 with 2010 World Cup hosts South Africa.

South Africa took the lead at Loftus Road through Siyabonga Nkosi but two goals by Mile Sterjovski and Joshua Kennedy gave Australia a well deserved half-time lead. It was a different story in the second period and South Africa midfielder Teko Modise struck a magnificent equaliser to give South Africa a share of the spoils.


Tuesday's game at Loftus Road was Australia's final friendly fixture before thier crucial World Cup qualifying campagn begins. Schwarzer and his international collegues have been drawn against Japan, Bahrain, Uzbekistan and Qatar in Group A of the 2010 World Cup Asian Qualifiers and will kick-off their campaign away to Uzbekistan on September 10th.
