Roy Hodgson’s described Sunday’s victory over Aston Villa as Fulham’s ‘first step on the road to recovery.’ Hodgson’s hard work on the Training Ground paid dividends on Sunday with Fulham producing their finest footballing performance of the season and match winner Jimmy Bullard raved about the pedigree of his new Manager after the game.
“To be honest – the Manager brings lot of class. He knows this game inside out. He knows what we want and what we need to do. He’s been awesome. He’s the best manager I’ve ever had technically and I just enjoy working with him. He knows the game inside out and the result against Villa is brilliant for him you know.
“You can tell from the way he puts it to you on the pitch. There are loads of things he’s got going for him - his experience is second to none and he’s a first class manger to be honest, both in terms of man management and also the team.”
“We’re always going to be in a dog fight right till the last game, but I think we performed really well on Sunday. Aston Villa are a tough team and at times I felt we played some great stuff. I’m not going to tell any lies, we’re down here and nobody wants to be down here, it’s horrible."
The Club have chartered a special Fulham supporters train| to take fans to and from Middlesbrough on Saturday |and Bullard is targeting another three points which could potentially move the Whites within touching distance of the teams above them. For the fans it will offer another chance to see the Club's newest recruits who impressed team mate Bullard on Sunday.
“Our next game is massive. We need another three points against Middlesbrough. We got a great point away at Bolton and that looks massive now for us. That was the Manager’s first point and now hopefully we can put a little run together that is going to be big for us. The draw at Bolton - I look at that personally as a massive point. I know everyone looks at it as should win, but that could be a big point come the end of the season.
“The new boys that come in have just had to get on with it; you know, roll their sleeves up and just do the job really. You know, to be honest Erik played brilliantly up front for us on Sunday. All the new boys did really well. We’ve got Brian back now as well and that’s a big plus for us. We’ve got some good new players so hopefully we can push on."
