Fulham have the chance to extend their unbeaten run in the Barclays Premier League to ten games this weekend at Upton Park and captain Danny Murphy believes the Club's recent form highlights the progress made under Roy Hodgson's stewardship.
"We won’t let the pressure of keeping the run going get to us," Murphy revealed. "We go into each game now with better confidence. We’re realistic and know that the run won’t last forever, because it doesn’t for the best teams in the world, but we’re very happy with it and it’s given us a belief within ourselves that even on a bad day, when we don’t play that well, we can still get results.
"It won’t last forever, but while we’re on it, we’ll enjoy it and we’ll build confidence from it because it’s not very often you go on such a great run. And the Manager, the staff, the players and, of course, the fans all deserve credit for it, because we’ve all done it together. We’ve worked tremendously hard to go away to places like Villa, Anfield and White Hart Lane and get results.
"There have been some great performances along the way from various people and long may it continue, because I think the progression we’ve made in recent times is the reason we are on that run."
The Whites play their third consecutive London derby in the league this weekend and whilst the table remains as tight as ever Murphy prefers to focus on the positives which have propelled his team into the top ten with games in hand.
"I think we should look at our form and our results and take massive positives from those, and not worry too much about the fact that this season’s tally of points in the lower reaches of the Premier League is above average, because that takes away from what we’re doing and the way we’re progressing and playing. We don’t want to be worrying about what’s below us, we want to be looking above us.
"If we keep playing the way we have been and keep our good run going, hopefully another two or three games into the season we’ll be edging further away from it rather than worrying about being close to it."
