Fulham’s inaugural game of their Korean pre-season tour kicked-off today against Busan l'Park (KO 7pm local time) at the Asiad Main Stadium in Busan and one player who is clearly enjoying the trip with his new team mates is summer signing David Stockdale.
Stockdale signed for Fulham from Darlington over the summer and Fulham’s tour of Korea represents another exciting opportunity for the youngster who is clearly looking to benefit from working with Mark Schwarzer next season.
“Fulham is a really good Club and everyone’s been very friendly and welcoming. The team did very well last year to stay up. At the moment I want to get in the Reserve Team as much as possible because not many people are going to get past Mark Schwarzer. The keepers at the Club are old enough and experienced enough to help me out so I’m very happy about that.”
Stockdale has enjoyed a fine start to his Fulham career and put in another fine performance against Celtic last week before heading off to Korea. Aside from competitive action, the tour is a great opportunity for the squad to bond and the keeper clearly appreciates his position as a Fulham player.
“The game against Celtic was one of the biggest crowds I’ve played in front of. It’s nice to get that one out the way and break yourself in and show people what you can do.
“This tour is a great opportunity for everyone to get to know each other before the season starts as there have been a fair few signings over the summer – good signings as well. Everybody eats together and trains together so it good times.
“Whether I’m involved or not in the two games we’ve got lined up it will be a good week for me. I’m a new signing so I can really get to know the lads. At the moment everyday is a good day for me.”
A match repot from Fulham's game against Busan l'Park will appear on fulhamfc.com following the final whistle at the Asiad Main Stadium.
