Minutes after Sunday's final whistle, Kasey Keller paid tribute to Fulham's defence and revealed his family would be enjoying an extra special day back in the States after Fulham's victory at Fratton Park.
"It was Mother’s Day in America", Keller explained. "So happy Mother’s Day to my wife and Mum back in the States. That’s what they wanted for Mother’s Day – a good victory to stay in the League and we’ve done that.
!We’ve been great for weeks and I’m just so proud of everybody in front of me. No one gave up and no one panicked. We said 'let’s wait - the chance will come' and Danny took it. We kept it nice and tight at the back and got the clean sheet and victory."
Keller was in commanding form on Sunday and pulled off several first class saves during the game. The keeper highlighted Fulham's fine recent form after the game and spoke of Roy Hodgson's half-time team talk as Fulham's season went to the wire.
"I think if you look at our form over the last seven or eight games we deserve to stay up. We’re staying in the League and what it means to the fans, the Chairman, the players, staff, everybody – a phenomenal day.
It was a cliffhanger alright! At half-time the Manager just said ‘don’t change the game plan. We can always change it in the last ten or fifteen minutes if we have to. Let’s just go out and who knows what’s going to happen in the other games. Just keep it tight at the back and the chance will come.’
"I’m just so happy I was given the chance to come back to the Premier League with Fulham. Roy showed a lot of faith when I came back from my shoulder surgery and I’m just proud I was able to help. What a tremendous day.”
