Fulham secured their place in the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup on Tuesday night against Swansea and Brede Hangeland is now looking forward to challenging the Barclays Premier League and European Champions for a place in the final four.
"At home we're very confident and it was a really good performance on Tuesday - if we keep doing that we'll be very hard to beat at home," said Hangeland. "We were happy with the way we came back after being a goal down. Swansea played very well over the two legs and gave us a very hard test but in the second half after they scored I thought we dominated the game and showed great character.
"To go through was the main objective and now we're playing the best team in the country but luckily we're playing them at home which should give us some comfort. I think we'll give them a good game and we look a lot stronger at home and there will be a big difference playing them at Old Trafford and at home. Hopefully that will work to our advantage and we'll have a chance to go through."
Hangeland has experienced Cup success in his native Norway with Viking and the defender would clearly love to replicate that experience in the FA Cup, a competition which is avidly followed back home.
"People are definately excited in Norway about both the Norwegian Cup and the FA Cup. It's the atmosphere and how the underdog always has a chance to beat the big teams. It creates a special atmosphere which people seem to enjoy and I understand why.
"I won the Norwegian Cup once with Viking and that was a great feeling. I've been to Wembley once for a concert and I would like to go back for a Cup Final definately! It's a long way to get there and we have a big test in the Quater Finals but who knows - anything is possible."
Hangeland rattled the crossbar for the second time in a week against Swansea on Tuesday evening and the towering centre half was once again left frustrated by another near miss.
"I'm going to talk to the groundsman about lifting the crossbar a couple of inches! I'm not a goalscorer but I think I've hit the crossbar four times in my Fulham career so that's disappointing. The one on Tuesday was a free header and the problem was I got so high it was hard to direct the header down. As long as we win though I'm happy."
Fulham travel to the Emirates on Saturday hoping to complete a league double over North London rivals Arsenal and Hangeland draws on his side's performances at Anfield and Villa Park as proof that Fulham can compete against the best in the land, home and away.
"We're well aware of how tough it will be at the Emirates and we have to produce a performance like we have in our last two games if we want to get points. I think we're full of confidence at the moment so we'll try and go there and get something.
"We're really happy with our home form but looking at that we should do better away from home. Maybe it's to do with confidence but sooner or later we'll do well away from home and get a win. They're a top side and we expect a very tough game but we're confident and we know if we play well we can get points. We've been to Anfield, Villa Park and places like that and got points so I think it's possible on Saturday but we have to play well."
