Fulham continued their pre-season preparations on Tuesday evening with a nil-nil draw against Bournemouth at Dean Court.
The Whites had the better of the goalscoring chances on the night but were unable to beat Cherries goalkeeper Shwan Jalal.
Speaking after the encounter, Fulham Manager Roy Hodgson gave his reaction to the game.
“We played quite well I thought, we should have won it with the goal chances we had,” he said. “It’s early season and we had the chance to use a lot of players. People like Hangeland, Kamara and Konchesky, who weren’t on the trip to Australia got some minutes and once again I was able to use 18 or 19 players.
“The shape of the team was good, in fact the shape and pressurising from both teams was good. It was just the type of thing we need at this stage of the season and had we taken a couple of the goal chances I would have been really pleased with the performance. That’s the only thing that leaves a sour taste in the mouth – we actually got behind and had so many opportunities to score but we didn’t even take one of them.
“I’m very pleased with the performance as a pre-season friendly and I congratulate Bournemouth on doing a good job, they gave us a very good game and they look well advanced in their preparations. This was a good lesson for us and hopefully we’ll be ready next Thursday when the big day comes around.”
