Ten-man Fulham produced a wonderful second-half performance to come within a whisker of taking all three points at Upton Park. The Whites were left a man light when Kagisho Dikgacoi was sent off towards the end of the first-half.
Already a goal down, Fulham rallied after the interval and, through Danny Murphy and Zoltan Gera, managed to get into a commanding position. Unfortunately, the home side equalised late into added-time with Junior Stanislas’ deflected effort.
Speaking after the game, Roy Hodgson was proud of his players’ performance.
"I would like to think no-one would begrudge us the victory there today because we were worth it for our second-half performance," Hodgson said.
"We know that games last 94-95 minutes and shots do get deflected. Sunderland were denied a famous victory at Old Trafford yesterday and we have been denied a famous victory here in exactly the same way.
"It was a harsh way to lose two points after we had done so well to get ourselves in a position to win three.
"We played really well in the second half with and without the ball.
"It's hard to be happy, or satisfied, but I'm proud of my players, they deserve every credit for the way they played."
