The Academy's Under 10s side recently returned from a highly successful trip to Budapest in Hungary, where they reigned supreme in the “Future Cup”.
The tournament was organised by FC Budapest and Fulham's U10 side remained unbeaten throughout the duration of the competition, taking some impressive scalps along the way. The Whites beat Barcelona (5-1), Austria Vienna (2-0), Slovan Bratislava (3-0), Zilina (3–0) before winning the Final against Olomouc (4–0) from Czech Republic in convincing fashion.
The Whites not only dominated the tournament but a host of Academy players also took home individual awards. Fulham's Matt Sorinola was voted Player of the Tournament, whilst top scorer for the tournament was Luke Donellan. Fulham's Sam Smith was also voted the tournament's number one goalkeeper.
The Club would like to congratulate Matt Sorinola, Luke Donellan, Courtney Watson, Tyler Burey, Liam Rankin, Zico Asare, Xavier Amaechi, Anis Mehmeti, BJ Busari, Sam Smith following the U10s outstanding success in Budapest.
Fulham's U10 Team was led by Gavin Taylor, Derek Bradley and physio Vicky Lynch. Following the U10s success, Geoff Noonan, U9 -U14 Development Manager said:
"The Academy's U10 Team really developed over the course of the season under the guidance of Gavin Taylor and Derek Bradley.
"They have focused on the technical development of the Team and created a winning mentality amongst the squad.
"The application and commitment of the U10 Team and Management has been outstanding all term and they have provided a great example for all our Academy groups.
"The U10s success in Budapest was the perfect reward for all the hard work and application shown throughout the season."
