John Pantsil returned for pre-season training at Motspur Park this week following a busy summer schedule.
The Fulham right-back represented Ghana in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa as the Black Stars produced a number of fine performances before going out to Uruguay in the harshest of circumstances.
“It was my second experience in the World Cup and it was a great experience,” Pantsil said looking back on the tournament. “I played against good players and also meeting different fans was great. The atmosphere was fantastic and it was good to have a World Cup in Africa. It really felt like home when the crowd was there, everything was great.
“We were always singing and dancing to bring good spirit to the team, the Ghana team is always one, we move together and play together as a team – so that helped us.”
Now back at Fulham’s training ground, Pantsil explained how his pre-season training has got off to challenging start.
“There was a bit of running today,” he explained. “It was intensive but my condition is pretty good and I am keen to do a lot of running and technical work. When the Team comes back from their training camp I will join in with full training. At the moment Clinton [Dempsey], Andy Johnson and I are working here.
“Last season we played a lot of games and plenty of matches in Europe on top of our Premiership games. I think that didn’t allow us to get into the top ten so I think this season we will be more rested and we will be able to focus on the league and achieve our aims like we did two seasons ago.”
