Fulham Academy graduates Marcus Bettinelli and Courtney Harris have recently signed their first professional contracts with the Club.
The pair visited Craven Cottage last Friday to hand out certificates and medals to pupils from John Betts Primary School and Henry Compton Secondary School who have all taken part in Fulham Football Club Foundation's Double Club programme. They were delighted to spend some time with the young people from the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and celebrate their achievements for the 2009/10 academic year with them.
Double Club consists of two hour football and Fulham FC themed Maths and Literacy lessons and one hour of practical football / sports coaching by one of Fulham Football Club Foundation’s qualified coaches. As part of the programme, pupils also have the chance to go on a behind-the-scenes tour of Craven Cottage and Fulham’s Motspur Park training facility with an opportunity to meet a Fulham player.
Fulham Football Club Foundation has been delivering a Double Club programme for three years but it’s the first year that primary school children have followed the syllabus and there have been some significant results. John Betts have been following the DC Numeracy programme this academic year and their recent test results show that over 90% of students have improved their Maths levels by 2-4 sub-levels.
Henry Compton students have been following the DC Literacy programme and again we have seen significant improvements in their attainment levels, as well as an improvement in their attitude towards school and learning in general.
Congratulations from Fulham Football Club Foundation and Fulham FC to all of the pupils for all of their hard work and success.
