Speaking after Fulham's narrow defeat in the final of the UEFA Europa League, a deeply disappointed Dickson Etuhu looked back on Wednesday evening's tense encounter in Hamburg.
"It's very, very hard to take but that's football. We've done well to get this far and we just have to learn from it," he said.
"It's been a great experience for the lads and a great experience for me. We did well for Fulham, we got here so who can complain? We got 20 minutes into the second-half and I was thinking 'we could win this' but we didn't take the opportunities to get the goal when we were on top of them.
"No one expected us to be here. We played against some of the top teams in Europe. Everyone's disappointed, especially going that far. If Atletico had scored earlier we could have taken it but for them to score that late - you don't need that.
"The fans were great, we're very lucky to have fans like them and we're very grateful. Now everybody's going away, we'll come back next season and start again."
