Dickson Etuhu will be hoping to strike against his former club this afternoon when Fulham take on Manchester City at the Cottage.
Etuhu began his professional career at City and the midfielder admits today’s game carries extra significance for him as he seeks another heavy weight scalp at the Cottage.
“I started my career there [Manchester City] and it was a good time for me,” said Etuhu. “I’ve still got a lot of friends there. We know what we need to do and we’ll go and play our game. Most of the players there we’ve played against before and we’re looking forward to it.
“I go into every game the same but there is a special feel for me for this game though because it is my old club. I started my career there and it’s always nice to play against them. I’m looking forward to it. My brother is there and my family will be watching the game on Sunday.
“We’ve beaten Manchester United and Arsenal at the Cottage in recent years and it’s the same against every big team, there’s that extra bite. They’re a top team so I’ll be getting to sleep early and eating my pasta in preparation for the game!”
Having recently signed a new long-term deal with Fulham, Etuhu is clearly loving life at the Cottage and enjoying his continued development under Mark Hughes’ guidance.
“The thing about Fulham is that we’re a Team and there are no individuals," Etuhu explained. “That’s one of the reasons I signed a long term contract here – it’s a great club. I’m so happy here and it’s a great Club. I’m playing my best football at the moment. I’ve just turned 28 years old and we have coaches who always want to improve us. We’ve got people that care and want to help us and improve us.”
