Fulham fly to the Ukraine on Wednesday morning ahead of Thursday night's UEFA Europa League play-off against FC Dnipro and after grabbing a brace in the first leg, Clint Dempsey believes Fulham's quality will see the Club through to the group stages.
“We knew that we needed to get some goals at the Cottage last week because it's going to be a difficult away leg on Thursday night," Dempsey told fulhamfc.com.
"They’re going to have a lot of fans behind them and they are going to throw caution to the wind. They know they've got to go out and take risks.
“We’ve got to remain compact defensively and pick and choose our moments when to get forward. Also, when we do have possession, we have to play with confidence. I think we have the quality to see us through.”
Dempsey spoke of the integral qualities of his team that have taken the Club to great success in recent seasons and highlighted the desire amongst the current squad to prove their individual worth to manager, Martin Jol.
“We try to play the right way at Fulham," Dempsey explained. "We have a lot of honest guys on the team that work hard and we have a good core group of guys that have been here through the most successful period in Fulham's history.
"We are excited about the new manager [Martin Jol] that we have and everybody wants to impress because these games are important early on, you want to gain his confidence and show him that you want to be out there and play as many games as possible. That's what it's about."
