Philippe Senderos made a winning debut with the Swiss defender playing his part in an impressive 3-0 defeat of Sunderland on Saturday.
Having missed the majority of the season as a result of an Achilles injury, the 26-year-old came in for the absent Brede Hangeland and did well in what was at times a testing 90 minutes of football.
"I haven't played a lot of football and this was my first competitive game of the season," explained Philippe to fulhamfc.com. "It took a little while to find my feet, which is natural, but of course, this was a good day all round.
"I had waited a long time to make my debut for the Club, and I'm delighted to have finally pulled on the shirt. But of course, it is never about individuals - today the team performed very well and in what was a difficult game we got the job done.
"I think we showed a lot of character and quite often in football, that can be the big difference."
Victory does much for the Whites' ambitions of finishing in the top 10 of the Barclays Premier League as the team look to finishing the season as strongly as possible. Senderos certainly wants to play his part.
"Well that's where we should be," adds Phillipe. "I haven't been involved an awful lot, but I have still been on the side watching. For me, we deserve to be in the top half - I think if we can achieve that then it would be a good year for us all.
"It's been a long road for me personally, and of course I would like to be involved in the remainder of the matches. But really, that would be an added bonus.
"It was good to get out there and show what I'm about and with the likes of Mark Schwarzer behind me and Aaron Hughes beside it was relatively easy to slot in.
"We have a fantastic group of players here, and even though there were a few missing today, the strength and experience of the squad shone through."
