Damien Duff and Stephen Kelly played their part in an incredible defensive performance by the Republic of Ireland against Russia on Tuesday night that secured what could turn out to be a decisive UEFA 2012 qualifying point.
Russia were on the offensive throughout the content but a marvellous defensive display by the Republic of Ireland compensated for the disappointment of last Friday's draw with Slovakia in Dublin.
Stephen Kelly played the full 90 minutes whilst Damien Duff was replaced by Stephen Hunt after 67 minutes.
Ireland’s Euro 2012 dream is alive and kicking with ambitions of making the final tournament in Poland/Ukraine next year now hanging on their ability to defeat Andorra (7 October) and Armenia (11 October) in their final two matches.
