Of the three youngsters that Fulham signed in January, Jack Grimmer has so far enjoyed the most playing time, with the Scottish youth international regularly turning out for both the Academy side and the Reserves.
“I consider myself lucky to have come in and already played for the Development Squad in the short time that I’ve been here,” Jack admitted. “It was expressed to me before I signed that if I did my thing and worked hard then I’ll get my chance.
"It was a big deal to me because you don’t come to a club where you’ve never got a chance of playing for the first team so that was a big factor [in signing].”
Jack is a record breaker for his former club Aberdeen after becoming their youngest ever player when he came off the bench at Ibrox aged 16 years, two months and 13 days old. Understandably the Scottish club were keen to hold onto the versatile teenager, but the lure of coming to SW6 was too great for Jack to turn down.
“I had to take all things into consideration,” he said. “And I just didn’t think I could pass up the opportunity of training with some of the best players around and being taught by coaches who have been there and done it all, which is what’s happening at Fulham.”
Jack has been at the club for over a month now and is enjoying the start to his Fulham career:
“Training is of a very high standard,” he explained. “We do a lot of attacking drills; it’s very technical and tactically based so my knowledge of the game is already starting to improve."
