The Club is pleased to confirm that FFC First Team Coach, Billy McKinlay, has been named as Northern Ireland’s Assistant Manager and will team up with manager Michael O’Neill during the international breaks.
Following Fulham’s West London derby match against QPR on the 25th February, McKinlay will team up with Northern Ireland for the first time ahead of an international friendly match against Norway at Windsor Park on the 29th February.
McKinlay, who joined Fulham in 2004, spoke of his delight after receiving Chairman Mohamed Al Fayed’s blessing to combine his role at Fulham with a new position on the international stage.
“I am honoured to accept the Assistant Manager’s position with Northern Ireland,” said McKinlay. “I have known Michael O’Neill for over 20 years since our days at Dundee United together and it will be great to work alongside him.
“I am excited by this opportunity to work with the squad as there are a lot of talented players from Northern Ireland and I am looking forward to our first game against Norway.”
