First things first, welcome to Fulham Pavel. What are your first impressions?
PP: My first impressions are very positive. As soon as I arrived everything had a very friendly atmosphere, all the players were very friendly.
I am really surprised with the training camp; it’s a very, very cosy atmosphere and everything is fine. The only thing left is to go on the pitch and get Fulham some success.
Has it been frustrating in the time between when you signed and today?
PP: It was not really frustrating because Fulham did a really professional job; I’ve been waiting only three days. Fulham sent a fitness coach to Paris and in Paris we worked hard. I kept my fitness at a certain level as well – he [the fitness coach] was brilliant.
You had your first training session today – did you enjoy it?
PP: The training season was quite intensive. Intensive is good and in general I’m very happy.
Did you take advice from anybody about coming to English football?
PP: I asked advice from all my Russian teammates, people like Bilyaletdinov, Pavlyuchenko and Arshavin from Arsenal.
But definitely the decision was made by me because it was my long-term dream to play in England. Now the dream has come true and I’m happy that I’m finally here.
The Premier League is obviously one of the world’s biggest leagues; do you feel pressure to perform here?
PP: Everything I’ve achieved in my life is not because I was always the top talent but because I am a hard worker.
Everything in my life I have worked hard for. To come to an environment where hard work is one of the most important things means it's a good environment for me to be in.
I’m really happy because this is a new challenge which brings new possibilities and opportunities.
When do you feel you’ll be ready to play a match?
PP: It’s Martin Jol’s decision. I’m ready to play on Saturday and really want to but of course the Manager is the decision maker, and the only decision maker, but I am ready.
For our fans that haven’t seen you before, how would you describe how you play on the pitch?
PP: I’m aggressive. I’m working from the first minute until the 95th or the 97th or however long the match is. I also like to play combination football which Fulham always play. You will see on the pitch.
