Fulham manager Martin Jol has spoken of the attributes, as a midfielder and captain, that have made Danny Murphy such an important player for Fulham FC since he joined the Club in 2007.
Jol was full of praise for the former England midfielder as he discussed the integral role Murphy plays in his Team.
“Danny is a link up player from the back and he never hides,” explained Jol. “He’s always available and that is what I love about him. He’s a brave footballer. Even when he’s under pressure he will demand the ball.
"Link up play and keeping the ball is so important and with a player like Danny you’ve always got the guarantee that you will play football.
“I feel that we should be very proud of Danny. I remember watching a few years ago when he scored that goal against Portsmouth to keep Fulham in the Premier League. He’s very grateful that he plays here and we should be very grateful that he’s here."
Murphy has once again been ever present for Fulham this season and Jol believes the 34-year-old can continue playing at the top level for as long as he desires.
“It depends in his own mindset," said Jol. "If he wants to play he will play. I’ve had the experience with players that sometimes they will last six months and sometimes they will last another couple of years."
