Varsity Boat Race and Football Match
Craven Cottage has become a popular location from which to watch the annual University Boat Race between Oxford and Cambridge and this year was no exception.
Over 2,000 people flocked to the Cottage to take advantage of the great views, entertainment and first class hospitality from our delightful Riverside Terrace. The event was accompanied by a brass band, Champagne and Pimms tents plus plenty of other entertainment to provide a wonderful atmosphere on the day.
The Varsity football match, between Oxford University and Cambridge University, kicked off at 11:30 a.m. prior to the Boat Race. A total of 3,000 spectators watched Oxford claim a 1-0 victory over a spirited Cambridge side.
The win was Oxford's first since 2005, and Oxford's 49th win overall, to Cambridge's 48. Incredibly, after over 130 years of Varsity football, both teams have now scored exactly 197 goals.

Bar Mitzvah
On 7th December 2008, Fulham Football Club played host to its first Bar Mitzvah. Emet Jaffe Pearce is a huge Fulham fan, and has season tickets in the Johnny Haynes Stand with his father Robert.
Emet and his parents enjoyed a private behind the scenes tour of the ground with photos in the dugout, tunnel and on the Cottage balcony. They were then joined by 130 guests for a Champagne reception and a sumptuous meal of Mediterranean inspired food, which Emet's parents worked closely on with the Club chef, a marquee was erected on the Riverside terrace for Emet and his friends to celebrate with balloons and gifts.
A violinist provided musical entertainment whilst a close-up magician kept the younger guests amused with his tricks. During the speeches Emet was surprised by a personal DVD message from his favourite player, Clint Dempsey sending his Congratulations and Best Wishes along with a signed card from the First Team.
The night ended with a disco for Emet and his friends along with a chocolate fountain and glow sticks, whilst the adults enjoyed relaxing in the Trophy Lounge over dessert.
