On the 31st August 2011 Fulham Football Club confirmed the signing of Bryan Ruiz, from Dutch side FC Twente on a four year deal, with an option for a further year, for an undisclosed fee which will see the player at the Club until at least the summer of 2015.
Ruiz attracted a lot of interest from many top European clubs during the 2011 summer transfer window which including a last-minute approach from another Premier League side.
The attacking midfielder was born in Alajuela in Costa Rica and is a regular for his country. He made his senior debut for his home town club, Alajuelense, in 2003 before moving to Belgium to sign for Gent in 2006. He spent three seasons at Gent, scoring 26 goals in 79 appearances before his move to FC Twente in 2009 where his impressive goal scoring record continued having netted 39 goals in 61 appearances for the Dutch club.
Bryan made his debut for Fulham against Blackburn Rovers at Craven Cottage on Sunday 11th September 2011 and opened his account for the Whites with a delightful chip against Everton on the 23rd October.
His talent for producing the spectacular was on display again at the Cottage during Fulham's 2-0 win over Bolton Wanderers in mid-December, with a stunning finish to secure Fulham maximum points.
Ruiz was an integral member of Martin Jol's First Team last season before suffering a fracture in the 5th metatarsal in his foot against Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium on April 7. On April 10 the Club confirmed a small operational procedure had taken place to repair the damage.
