Baird was signed during the summer of 2007 following an outstanding season with Southampton, a year which saw him named the Saints’ Player of the Season for his impressive displays at centre-back.

Last season Baird came to the fore and was a regular in the heart of Fulham's midfield and defence. A regular for the Northern Ireland national team, Baird has won more than 30 caps since making his debut against Italy in 2003.

After performing admirably in central midfield during the first half of the 09/10 campaign, Baird turned his hand to right-back for the second half of the season following John Pantsil's serious knee injury.

Baird was outstanding last season and was one of the Club's unsung heroes as the Team reached the Final of the UEFA Europa League Final in Hamburg.
