The Northern Irish defender signed for Fulham during the summer of 2007 following an outstanding season with Southampton, earning the Club's Player of the Season Award for his performances at centre back.
Baird signed a four year contract with the Whites and started the 07/08 season as the Club's first choice right back but during the second half of the season lost his place to Paul Stalteri. Baird is a valued member of Roy Hodgson's squad and made his first league start of the season during Fulham's Boxing Day draw with Spurs at White Hart Lane. The Northern Irish defender played in his preferred postion at centre back and put in a faultless performance in Brede Hangeland's absence.
When Fulham travelled to the Emirates in February 09 Baird was selected at right back in the absence of the suspended John Pantsil and once again put in a superb performance before an ankle injury forced him to retire from the fixture at half-time.
Baird is a regular fixture in the Northern Ireland team since making his debut against Italy in 2003.
