The versatile defender, who can play at right back and centre half was voted the Saints Player of the Season in 2006/07. Baird rose through the youth ranks at Southampton and after making his debut at the tail end of the 2002/03 season, put in a Man of the Match performance in the 2003 FA Cup Final a week later.
Baird enjoyed two successful loan spells at Walsall and Watford before emerging as regular member of the Saints first team under George Burley. On the international stage Baird has collected 25 caps for Northern Ireland since 2003 and his outstanding performances last season attracted the interest of a number of Premiership clubs.
