He even ended the 2008-09 season by leading the United States to the final of the Confederations Cup, underlining his talent on the international stage with three goals in five games – form that earned him the Bronze Ball as the tournament’s third best player behind Tim Howard and winner Kaka.
Having secured Fulham’s top-flight status at the end of the 2006-07 with a winning goal against Liverpool Dempsey continued his goalscoring form the season before last, finishing as the Club’s joint top scorer in the league with seven alongside Andrew Johnson.
Dempsey has become an integral member of Fulham's First Team and the midfielder was enjoying another impressive season until a knee injury ruled him out of action in January 2010.
The American returned to action in March and made a stunning impact from the bench against Juventus at the Cottage, coming on to score a sensational chip to earn Fulham a 5-4 aggregate win over the Italian giants in the UEFA Europa League.
Dempsey was a central figure in the United States World Cup team at the 2010 Finals in South Africa before the USA were knocked out by Ghana.
