With his boundless endeavour Clint Dempsey impressed a lot of people at Craven Cottage last season, and as the Club reached new heights in the league the American ace celebrated his finest campaign with Fulham.
His double strike against Chelsea ushered in a very memorable 2009, in an enthralling SW6 derby, while his brace against Manchester City did much for the team’s confidence away from home.
But it’s not just goals and key assists that Dempsey has brought to proceedings, he has added guile, enthusiasm and that hard-to-find knack of making things happen. A player who is perpetually motivated to succeed, the 26-year-old’s star has undoubtedly risen over the past 12 months.
He even ended the 2008-09 season by leading the United States to the final of the Confederations Cup, underlining his talent on the international stage with three goals in five games – form that earned him the Bronze Ball as the tournament’s third best player behind Tim Howard and winner Kaka.
Having secured Fulham’s top-flight status at the end of the 2006-07 with a winning goal against Liverpool Dempsey continued his goalscoring form last term, finishing as the Club’s joint top scorer in the league with seven alongside Andrew Johnson.
Dempsey has become an integral member of Roy Hodgson's Team and the midfielder was enjoying another impressive season until a knee injury ruled him out of action in January 2010.
The American is currently recovering from injury and is expected to return to action before the end of the season ahead of this summer's World Cup Finals in South Africa.
