Clint Dempsey has been an integral feature of Fulham's success, at home and abroad, since joining the Club in 2007.
The US international star was Fulham's leading goalscorer (13 goals) last term and voted the Club's Player of the Season for 2010/11. Dempsey is currently the longest serving member of Fulham's squad alongside Simon Davies.
During his first few months at FFC, Clint helped retain Fulham’s top-flight status at the end of the 2006-07 with a winning goal against Liverpool. Dempsey continued his goalscoring form the season after, finishing as the Club’s joint top scorer in the league with seven alongside Andrew Johnson.
At the end of the 2008-09 season Clint led the United States to the final of the Confederations Cup, underlining his talent on the international stage with three goals in five games – form that earned him the Bronze Ball as the tournament’s third best player behind Tim Howard and winner Kaka.
During the 2009/10 season Dempsey more than played his part in helping Fulham reach the Final of the UEFA Europa League. It was his wininng goal against Juventus at the Cottage, a spectacular chip from 20 yards, that earned Fulham a 5-4 aggregate victory over the Italian giants.
Following his European adventure with Fulham, Dempsey headed to the 2010 World Cup, scoring against England before the USA were eventually knocked out by Ghana.
Dempsey returned to Fulham to lead the line admirably during the 2010/11 season, scored 13 priceless goals as Fulham finished the season in 8th place.
This season Dempsey has started where he left off last campaign, scoring a brace against FC Dnipro in the UEFA Europa League shortly after returning to action.
By the end of October Dempsey had taken his total to five goals in all competitions after scoring in Fulham's 0-2 win over Wigan Athletic. That strike saw Dempsey equal Brian McBride's record of most goals (36) scored by a US player in the Barclays Premier League.
At the beginning of November Dempsey named Futbol de Primera USA national-team player of the year for the second time.
Before the New Year Dempsey passed McBride's scoring record with a crucial strike against Liverpool at the Cottage that secured maximum points for Fulham.
Dempsey started 2012 in blistering form, smashing a hat-trick past Charlton on the 7th January to secure Fulham a place in the 4th Round of the FA Cup. In his next game at the Cottage, Dempsey scored a second hat-trick against Newcastle United before scoring against West Brom to take his tally to 16 goals by early February.
It’s not just goals and key assists that Dempsey has brought to proceedings, he has added guile, enthusiasm and that hard-to-find knack of making things happen. As well as his skills and attributes as a player, it is also his never-say-die attitude that has earned him the respect of everyone associated with the Club since his arrival in SW6 almost five years ago.
