Dickson Etuhu joined Fulham from Sunderland at the end of the 2008 summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old Nigerian international made 20 appearances for the Black Cats in the 2007/08 season. Etuhu made his competitive international debut for Nigeria at the African Cup of Nations in 2008.
A tall and powerful central midfielder, Ehutu also possesses exceptional athleticism and is well known for his defensive abilities in the middle of the park.
Dickson spent the early part of the 08/09 returning to full fitness and earned his chance in central midfield during Fulham's clash with Spurs on Boxing Day 2008. Heading into the New Year Etuhu retained his position in Roy Hodgson's starting eleven and made valuable contributions in Fulham's draw with Chelsea and FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday.
Etuhu's central midfield partnership with captain Danny Murphy flourishedduring the second half of the 08/09 season. Etuhu's athleticism, strength and intelligent use of possession allowed Murphy the freedom to focus on dictating the flow and direction of games with his superior passing play. Etuhu scored his first goal for the Club against his former team Manchester City during Fulham's three-nil victory at the City of Manchester Stadium on Easter Sunday. The Nigerian's fine form at Club level earned him a recall to the Nigerian international squad for the Super Eagles' friendly against the Republic of Ireland at Craven Cottage on the 28th May.
