An energetic box-to-box midfielder, Sidwell joined Fulham in January 2011 from Aston Villa before putting pen-to-paper on a contract extension in April 2011 that will see the player remain at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2014.
The midfielder was born in Wandsworth and started his career at Arsenal, winning the FA Youth Cup with the Gunners in 2000 and 2001 before making the move to Reading in 2003.
He spent four seasons with the Royals, making 168 appearances and scoring 29 goals and played an important part in Reading’s 2005-06 Championship-winning side and promotion to the Premier League.
Sidwell started the 2007-08 season at Chelsea before signing for Aston Villa in 2008.
The midfielder's debut for Fulham came during the Club's 2-0 victory over Stoke City on January 22nd 2011. Sidwell replaced Dickson Etuhu in central midfield in the second half at the Cottage before making his first start for the Club four days later against Liverpool at Anfield.
After six successive starts for Fulham Sidwell picked up a knee injury that kept the all-action midfielder out of action until the end of March.
Sidwell was an integral member of Martin Jol's team during the first half of the 2011/12 season, scoring a crucial goal goal during Fulham's memorable 2-1 victory over Arsenal on at the start of 2012.
Unfortunately injury ruled the midfielder out of contention during the final months of the 2011/12 season.
