Zoltan Gera enjoyed a truly memorable season at the Club during the 2009/10 campaign, scoring some historic goals for the Club as Fulham reached the Final of the UEFA Europa League.
In and out of Fulham’s starting line-up during the 08/09 campaign, Zoltan Gera’s first season at the Club will be defined by his exquisite acrobatic strike that sunk Manchester United at Craven Cottage.
Signed on a free transfer during the summer of 2008 from West Bromwich Albion, who he helped to the 2007-08 Championship title and promotion to the Barclays Premier League, in what was the last of his four seasons with the Midlands club.
Since his move to SW6 Gera has shown his versatility; at home on either flank and comfortable in a more advanced position in the centre where he thrived last season. The Hungarian is a player who is willing to track back and one capable of making a difference with his fleet-footed ability in and around the box.
Last season Gera was a regular in Fulham’s starting eleven and highlighted his pedigree for scoring wonder goals with a stunning strike at Eastlands in the Carling Cup.
Another with European experience having played in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup with Ferencvaros. Gera has won more than 60 international caps for Hungary who he captained when the legendary Lothar Matthaus was in charge.
During the second half of the 09/10 campaign Gera partnered Bobby Zamora in attack and the pair formed a strong understanding, with both players scoring on a regular basis.
Gera's 2009/10 campaign just got better with every match played, from scoring the final goal in Fulham's three-two win over Basel in Switzerland to his brace against Juventus and winner against Hamburg - it's fair to say Fulham would not have reached the Final of the UEFA Europa League without 'Zolly'.
Gera didn't take long to get off the mark this season with a brace against Port Vale in the Carling Cup in what was his first start of the new campaign.
