Fulham's outstanding defensive record continued on Boxing Day with a nil-nil draw at White Hart Lane.

Roy Hodgson's side got Friday's fixture at White Hart Lane underway and it was Mark Schwarzer and Heurelho Gomes who were the outstanding performers during the first half.

Schwarzer produced one of the saves of the season to deny Aaron Lennon shot from close range before the half hour mark whilst Gomes kept out a Clint Dempsey's overhead kick which would have been a contender for Goal of the Season.

Spurs looked to utilise the pace and guile of Lennon and Bentley down the flanks during the early stages but Fulham's back four were well protected by Hodgson's midfield quartet, led by the impressive Danny Murphy. Fulham's captain set the tone early on; winning his fifty-fifty's in the middle of the park whilst calmly directing proceedings with intelligent distribution.

Fulham looked to prosper on the counter attack and the visitor's first shot on target came after 12 minutes of play but Clint Dempsey's volley from the right hand side of the area was fired straight into Gomes' path. Seconds later Bentley cut inside from the left flank and fired in a 30-yard right-footed drive. His effort was full of venom but the outstanding Schwarzer was well positioned to collect.

After just 18 minutes of play Harry Redknapp was forced to make the first substitution of the game, replacing the injured Huddlestone with Jermaine Jenas in central midfield.

As the half hour mark approached the home side had three good chances to take the lead. First Modric went close with a fine left footed drive before Schwarzer's incredible instinctive save from Lennon's shot low to the keeper's right hand side. On the half hour mark King latched onto a corner but sent his headed effort over the bar.

Fulham's best effort of the half came on 34 minutes when Clint Dempsey produced a moment of technical brilliance. After challenging for a Zamora cross in the area, Dempsey followed up with a spectacular overhead kick which looked goal bound before Gomes stretched to tip the ball over the cross bar.

Before half-time Jimmy Bullard pulled up injured with a dead leg and Roy Hodgson introduced Dickson Etuhu to the fray alongside Danny Murphy in midfield. Fulham came closest before the break when Zamora slid in to meet a cros from the right at the far post. The ball raced across goal and just past Zamora's outstretched leg and the score remained level going into the break.

At the start of the second half Spurs attacked with intent but Fulham's defensive organisation restricted the home side to long range efforts. Chris Baird performed admirably alongside Aaron Hughes in the absence of Brede Hangeland (flu). Ten minutes into the second half Harry Redknapp made his second substitution of the game, bringing on Frazier Campbell for Bentley. The home side switched to a 4-4-2 formation.

The closest Spurs came before the hour mark was Bentley's speculative 30-yard free kick, which Schwarzer collected with ease. Fulham looked dangerous on the counter attack during the second half and with Murphy pulling the strings in front of the back four for the Whites it seemed chances would come Fulham's way as the game wore on.

Modric came close twice in the second half for Spurs with a glancing header across the face of goal and a deflected shot, which came close to breaking the deadlock. Twenty minutes from time Redknapp made his final change of the game, replacing Bent with Roman Pavlyuchenko in attack.

Chances were few and far between for either side in the closing stages but Andy Johnson was handed a great opportunity to take all three points back to West London six minutes from time. Davies' superb through ball down the right channel set Johnson clear through on goal. The striker raced into the area but appeared to stumble at his set to fire and Gomes saved at Johnson's feet. Fulham were unfortunate not to snatch a late victory at White Hart Lane on Friday.
