Fulham and Bolton played out a tough one-all draw at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon. The opening goal of the match came from the visitors in the first-half when Fulham failed to clear a long throw and Klasnic pounced on a loose ball to shoot past Schwarzer.

Fulham pressured for the equaliser, which finally came on 74 minutes, after Damien Duff arrowed a shot inside Jaaskelainen’s far post.

With Bolton looking to reverse their recent run of disappointing form, the Whites looked set for a tough task in breaking down a determined Wanderers back line. Whilst neither goalkeeper was significantly troubled in opening 20 minutes. It was Fulham who were looking the most positive in attack – albeit without creating any significant opportunities.

Jonathan Greening created a good opening for Erik Nevland early on but the Whites striker saw his shot charged down at the last moment by Steinsson.

The midfield battle was broken momentarily when a crafty free kick from Taylor almost found space in the box but Pantsil was quick to close down. Soon after, Jonathan Greening found himself in a good position to trouble the Wanderers back line on 28 minutes when he intercepted a loose pass in midfield only to see his shot sail over the bar.

The visitors took the lead somewhat against the run of play on 35 minutes when the Fulham defence failed to clear a long throw into the box, allowing Ivan Klasnic to seize on the loose ball and rifle a shot past Schwarzer from close range.

The Whites closed out the first-half competently keeping Bolton’s attacking intentions at bay but unsuccessfully imposing their attacking play on the opposition.

Fulham made a bright start to the second-half, putting Bolton under pressure from the opening whistle. Unfortunately, the Whites were unable to capitalise but the tide was still flowing against Wanderers.

The Whites, despite being a goal behind, showed no signs of desperation and maintained their attacking shape well. Although chances were not forthcoming, the booking of McCann on 52 minutes was indicative of Bolton’s desperate rearguard action.

Certainly judging by the flow of fouls in the second-half, Fulham were well on the ascendancy, forcing their opponents into some desperate pieces of defending. Clint Dempsey came close to getting Fulham back on level terms on 55 minutes but Taylor headed off the line.

A scramble in the 59th minute almost saw Zoltan Gera make contact with an ambitious overhead kick from seven yards.

Clint Dempsey led a breakaway attack on 61 minutes – feeding the ball to Duff who saw his left-footed effort well saved by Jaaskelainen.

Bolton continued to threaten through the odd set-piece but Fulham were still knocking at the door. On 66 minutes Erik Nevland forced a wonderful save from Jaaskelainen when his left-footed effort was tipped over the bar.

The run of play continued in Fulham’s favour, yet the Whites were unable to take advantage of their opportunities. Roy Hodgson replaced John Pantsil with Simon Davies on 68 minutes. Davies took up position on the right side of defence as the Whites looked to open up their opponents.

Fulham's pressure was rewarded in the 75th minute when Damien Duff found the back of the net after Erik Nevland set the Irish winger free in space down the right. Duff collected the ball on the edge of the area and took a touch before hitting a fine right-footed shot beyond the grasp of Jaaskelainen into the back of the net.

With the game hanging in the balance, Zoltan Gera was replaced by Kagisho Dikgacoi on 80 minutes. The move saw Chris Baird move to right-back, Dikgacoi take up position on central midfield with Duff moving to the left flank and Davies moving to the right wing.

The Whites continued to dominate possession in midfield and, as much as a resolute Bolton defence would allow, maintained their pressure on the visiting goal. Unfortunately Bolton were able to ride out the final minutes to secure a point.
