Lawrie Sanchez 2007

Lawrie Sanchez

After consultation between Fulham and the Northern Ireland Football Association, it was agreed that Lawrie Sanchez could join the Whites as Caretaker Manager for the remaining five games of the 2006/07 season.

Sanchez, who famously scored the winning goal for Wimbledon in the 1988 FA Cup final against Liverpool, arrived at Fulham with managerial experience at Sligo Rovers, Wycombe Wanderers and three years with Northern Ireland under his belt.

He achieved his 32-day task of maintaining Fulham's Barclays Premier League position, with a record of one win, one draw and three defeats and was given the Manager's job on a longer contract, handing in his notice from Northern Ireland in the process.

The Whites, though, did not make a good start to the new season and Sanchez left the Cottage in December 2007 after a home defeat to Newcastle United saw Fulham slip into the relegation places, with only two wins to show from their first 20 games.
