In late September 1999, 34-year old Karl Heinz Riedle moved to Fulham where, along with his old Liverpool boss Roy Evans, he would serve as Caretaker Manager until the end of the 1999/2000 season after Paul Bracewell's dismissal in March 2000.
A former German international, Riedle had played for the likes of Werder Bremen, Lazio and Borussia Dortmund prior to his switch to Anfield.
Fulham ended the Division One season in ninth place, with Jean Tigana appointed the Club's new Manager later that summer.
