History of Fulham Football Club

Don Mackay Sacked and Lewington Becomes Caretaker Manager

26 March 1994 A disastrous season saw Don Mackay sacked after a 2-2 away draw at Leyton Orient. The Club was sitting in 18th place with nine games remaining, but Ray Lewington once again stepped in to take responsibility for the First Team and attempted to guide us away from the threat of relegation.

Fulham Succumbs To Relegation Once Again

7 May 1994 Even the much loved Ray Lewington couldn't turn around the team's fortunes and a hugely disappointing season - even more so considering the promise the previous season showed - ended in relegation. A 2-1 defeat at Swansea City on the last day of the season meant Fulham finished 21st, taking up the last relegation spot and agonisingly only one point away from safety. We would play the next season in Division Three (formerly Division Four before the birth of the Premier League), the lowest League in English football.
