Here in the FFC Kidszone we uncover the Fulham heroes of the past – the players that your older brothers and sisters, parents and even grandparents used to cheer on. Here, we reveal the talents of Rufus Brevett.

WHEN? 1997-2003

APPEARANCES/GOALS: 205/2

SIGNED FROM: Queens Park Rangers

POSITION: Left-back

TOP ATTRIBUTES: Speed, tackling and toughness

PLAYED A BIT LIKE: John Arne Riise

Despite playing for West London rivals QPR, Brevett quickly won over the Fulham faithful largely due to his commitment and no nonsense approach. His tough tackling and brilliant reading of play helped Fulham up from the Second Division and then into the Premier League in 2001 where he continued to play his part.

Also played for Fulham in the UEFA Cup during the 2002/03 season and helped us reach the FA Cup Semi-Final in 2002. Although he was known for his defensive abilities, Brevett was also comfortable with the ball at his feet and was good at getting crosses into the box. After Fulham, he joined West Ham United.

DID YOU KNOW? Brevett now oversees the Academy’s Under-8s and is considered one of the Club's brightest young coaches.
