1 min: Shrewsbury made a strong start to game, attacking Fulham down both flanks in the opening minutes.

In the first minute of play Dave Hibbert latched onto a deep throw in on the left flank and fired in a shot from 18 yards. The strike lacked power and Warner saved comfortably.

Seconds later Chris Humphrey beat Konchesky down Fulham's left and sent in a dangerous cross, forcing the save at the near post from Warner.

7 min: Kamara smashed his header against the cross bar from eight yards. Steven Davis released Moritz Volz down the right flank. The defender's through ball found David Healy who burst to the by-line before delivering in a looping cross from the right. Kamara leapt and sent his header in on target but Esson was alert to tip the ball over the bar.

16 min: Kamara played a corner short to Davies on Fulham's right flank and the midfielder returned the ball to the striker who turned his man and went through on goal. Kamara smashed in his shot across goal from 17 yards.The speed of the ball had Esson beat but the angle of the shot took the ball wide.

18 min: Jimmy Ryan tested Warner twice in the space of a minute with two superb strikes on goal. Midfielder Ryan showed great vision from distance after spotting Warner off his line. His left footed strike dipped over Warner's bar but the effort was warmly appreciated by the home crowd. Seconds later Ryan sent in vicious half-volley 20 yards from goal in a central position. Fortunately for Fulham Warner was well positioned to make a comfortable save.

35 min: Kamara almost broke the deadlock. Ten minutes before the break Fulham earned a free-kick 30 yards from goal in a central position. Davies' set piece found the head of Kamara but Esson was alert to the danger and raced out to meet the striker's header. The Whites enjoyed a brief spell of poesssion in the final third but could not find a killer touch.

38 min: A deep cross from the left fell to Healy unmarked on the far post. Healy's header across goal was off-target and Dempsey was beaten by the speed of Healy's header at the far post.

45 min: A through ball found Hibbert 25 yards from Warner's goal and the striker earned a free-kick when Pearce bundled the striker to the ground. Pearce was booked for the foul and Shrewsbury's set-piece was cleared to safety before Referee Paul Taylor blew for half-time.

Second Half Action

46 min: Fulham got the second half underway and started the second period with a more direct, attacking mindset. Simon Davies earned Fulham a corner in the opening minute after beating two Shrewsbury defenders down the right flank before his cross was deflected away for a corner. 

50 min: A Simon Davies corner caused havoc in Shrewsbury's area on the far post but the home side once again shut the Whites out.

Alexey Smertin's energy and desire in midfield was creating opportunities on the flanks for Fulham as the game opened up, specifically attacking the home side down the left flank.

59 min: Goal Fulham! (Kamara) A Simon Davies corner from Fulham's right side found Kamara racing in on the near post. The striker sent a looping header over Shrewsbury keeper Esson and into the far corner of the net. After nearly an hour of play the Whites earned their lead.

60 minutes: The home side almost drew level when a Shrewsbury corner was headed back across goal from the far post by Kempson. The ball went wide of the post and Fulham's lead was retained, but only by a fraction.

65 min: Simon Davies sent in a dangerous cross to the far post but Carlos Bocanegra's header in the middle of the area looped over the bar under pressure from his marker. Past the hour mark Fulham began to enjoy more possession, with several probing attacks down the flanks but the Whites lacked a final flourish in front of goal to put the game beyond doubt.

67 min: Kamara was booked by Referee Taylor for a foul in the middle of the park before Shrewsbury made a double substitution. Hunt and Hibbert with replaced by Hall and Onibuja respectively.

69 min: After coming on only a few minutes ealrier Onibuja missed a golden opportunity to pull the game level. Humphrey's raced down the right flank before delivering the ball to a central position 12 yards from goal. Onibuja beat Fulham's offside trap but failed to read the delivery correctly and the ball raced across his path to safety.

71 min: Fulham produced their best passing move of the game down the right flank. Davies and Kamara play a neat one-two in the box before Kamara sent his headed effort straight at Esson. 

73 min: Lawrie Sanchez made his first substitution, replacing David Healy with Collins John.

77 min: Superb skill from Kamara following a Shrewsbury corner relieves the pressure before the striker produced turned neatly and released Davis down the left flank. The midfielder broke free and set up Smertin inside the area but the Russian fired his effort over the bar.

78 min: Sanchez made his second substitution of the game, replacing Moritz Volz with Elliot Omozusi. Seconds later Dempsey broke down the left and sent a fine delivery in the box. John, under pressure from his marker sent his effort high over the bar.

83 min:  Shrewsbury earn a free-kick on the left flank and Moss raced to the far post to meet the delivery. The right back sent his diving header into the outside of the netting on Warner's far post, missing by a fraction.

87 min: The home crowd tried to rally their team towards the end of the game but Fulham produced a good spell of possession in the final minutes to keep Shrewsbury at bay.

90 min: Fulham endured some late pressure from Shrewsbury and Carlos Bocanegra earned a yellow card late on following a challenge on substitute Fola Onibuja.

Fulham held on to earn themselves a place in the 3rd Round of the Carling Cup on Tuesday evening thanks to Diomansy Kamara's goal.
