Fulham's new record signing Steve Marlet will be a Premiership revelation according to top French sports journalist Pierre Chamberfort.
Chamberfort has followed the French National team covering them over two World Cups and a European Championship and had nothing but glowing praise for Jean Tigana's latest recruit on Wednesday evening. He said:
"Marlet has all the right qualities to become the best striker in England. He will put fear into the hearts of defences with his pace and power.
"I have seen Marlet grow in stature over the last two years. He is a player who is approaching the peak of his career, but at just 27 who knows what is to come, especially when Jean Tigana asks him to play his way."
Marlet smashes Fulham's transfer record (Edwin Van der Sar) and is sure to be given the number 9 shirt at Craven Cottage. A position that has amazingly been vacant for over a year.
"It's difficult to compare Steve to any English striker. He is certainly better than most that come to mind. If you asked me would I prefer Robbie Fowler or Michael Owen, I think we would not want to swap either of these two for Marlet.
"He jumps very high despite his size. He has power and technical ability which makes him difficult to mark. He is like Henrik Larsson at Celtic, but stronger."
Marlet passed his medical on Tuesday afternoon and is sure to be an instant hit with fans after publicly admitting earlier in the week that he was 'desperate' to join Tigana and French team mates Malbranque, Saha, Goma and Legwinski at Craven Cottage.
