No go Guardiola

Thursday 30 August 2001 00:00

Fulham Manager Jean Tigana has denied that he is about to swoop for former Barcelona midfielder Josep Guardiola.

The Cottagers Boss spent a Club record £11.5 million pound earlier in the week when he secured the services of International striker Steve Marley from Lyon, but on Thursday morning denied that the Spanish midfield dynamo was about to be added to his talented Premiership squad.

Tigana said: "There has been no contact between Guardiola and Fulham whatsoever."

The former Barcelona captain remains a free agent after leaving Camp Nou this summer and was strongly linked with a move to Fulham earlier in the week.
