Steve Finnan has confirmed his delight with the Republic of Ireland's World Cup draw - but insists he won't be getting over excited just yet.
Finnan watched the televised draw live on Saturday morning and was happy to see the Irish paired with Germany, Cameroon and Saudi Arabia in Group E.
However, the full-back knows he must perform for The Cottagers if he is to be included in Mick McCarthy's squad for the Japan/Korea finals next year.
He said: "It's six months away and anything can happen, so there's no point me getting over excited now.
"I just hope I'm fit and selected because it would be great to go out there."
He added: "At this stage, to be honest, the draw is more for the fans to talk about than the players. I have to concentrate on Fulham because I will only get in the Ireland side if I play well for my club."
