Melville appeals to fans

Monday 10 December 2001

Whites Captain Andy Melville has appealed to fans to try and make the trip to Liverpool as Fulham look to shock the Anfield giants this coming Wednesday.

The Merseyside fixture has now been rescheduled twice leaving many supporters unable to change their 'time off work' dates - and travel arrangements have been severely hindered by the uncertainty of the fixtures timing.

But an understanding Melville has appealed to fans to try and make the trip, if at all possible, saying:

"The lads are well aware of the trouble our supporters will have gone through to get to this game and the problems around the date of the match.

"It's a mid-week match halfway across the country. Christmas is coming, the game is live on SKY and most of them have already cancelled travel arrangements twice. It's a nightmare situation for them.

"All I can say is that the lads will be very much aware of their efforts and we will be very grateful to everyone who makes the trip.

"Anfield isn't the easiest of places to go at the best of times. Having as many of our fans as possible backing us can only help and we'll be doing our best to make sure their trip has been worthwhile"

Tickets for this match will be available on the night at Anfield...
