Academy player Sean Doherty has been called up to attend England's under-18 and under-17 winter training camp at La Manga.
Speaking to Fulham Today, Academy Director Steve Kean was pleased with Doherty's call-up.
"It's good for Sean to be involved with the England squad. Over the last few years they've gone away to a camp in La Manga. It's always a good experience for a player to train somewhere else and stay in the international frame.
"England play a 4-3-3 system with one central striker and two wide strikers. They'll try to bed down quite a bit of the tactical side.
"We see Sean as a wide midfielder, but in the England system they see him as a wide striker. He's the leading scorer in his age group with the England set up so it's always good for him play in a slightly more advanced role."
Doherty will be required from Friday 4th to Saturday 12th January 2002.
