Honest Brevett

Fulham defender Rufus Brevett says his side failed to beat Champions Manchester United simply because the Whites failed to take their chances.

Speaking after the game on Sunday Brevett said:

"Louis and Barry both hit the crossbar and we had other good chances to put the game beyond them. We didn't take them and we were punished for that."

The Cottagers defender added: "At this level you have to put your chances away. Manchester United punished us but that's football. You know all about their quality and if you cannot take the chances when they come your way you know what to expect.

"It's always nice to score just before half-time but we were caught after the break. We had chances, they scored, that's typical Man United."

Brevett hopes his side can bounce back at Derby on Wednesday adding:

"It'll be another hard game. They need points now and it's no good either of us sitting back looking for a draw.

"Derby need to start winning and that probably means they'll come at us - which will probably help our cause."
