Bristol Rovers 1 v 6 Fulham
Match played at The Beeches, Bristol
Sunday's game saw Fulham face Bristol Rovers at the Beeches in the National Premier Southern Division. Fulham Ladies took the lead as early as the third minute after a header from Marianne Pettersen. Bristol Rovers equalised after 20 minutes after a mix up in Fulham's defence. Deena Rahman went on to score her first goal of the season when she headed the ball in from 2 yards. Bristol Rovers were proving to be aggressive in defence and were a well-organised side.
Fulham went into the break 2-1 up. Fulham lacked their usual style of play and Bristol Rovers seemed to be the more determined side.
Manager Gaute Haugenes had his toughest half-time team talk this season and made some tactical changes and asked for more effort from his players.
Fulham went into the second-half and stepped up a gear and completely dominated. With Fulham piling on the pressure, they eventually found the net again. Kim-Jerray-Silver's corner was defended well by the Bristol Rover's defence although the ball eventually came out to Rachel McArthur who hammered the ball in from 20 yards out and gave the Goalkeeper no chance.
After this, Rachel McArthur, Marianne Pettersen and Kristy Moore were causing problems for Bristol Rovers with brilliant passing combinations and broke through again with Kristy Moore scoring the next two goals in a fifteen-minute period. Only good Goalkeeping from Bristol Rovers prevented an onslaught.
Marianne Pettersen scored the 6th goal from the penalty spot after a heavy challenge by a Bristol Rovers player.
With so many players on International duty and several injured players Fulham Ladies did well to beat a well-organised Bristol side.
Fulham's next game is on Sunday 11th November against Southampton Saints in the Quarter-Finals of the League Cup. Match to be played at Motspur Park Training Ground. Kick-off 2.00pm.
