QPR 0 - 14 FULHAM LADIES
Match report by Carol Gale
Fulham Ladies were on the attack from the kick-off; within seconds Kristy Moore saw a shot come back off the post, followed quickly by a Katie Chapman shot kicked off the QPR goal line. They took the lead in the 3rd minute. The move began with goalkeeper Jody Smith, she found Chapman who put a perfectly placed ball through for Rachel Yankey to run on to and her shot gave the QPR keeper no chance.
Within five minutes Kristy Moore won Fulham Ladies a penalty kick after being brought down; Haugenes confidently netted the penalty. Two minutes later Sanchia Duncan got on the score-sheet with a well-taken goal.
Duncan was having a good game and giving the left side of the QPR defence a torrid time. After excellent play by her once again, she passed to Chapman, who simply passed the ball into the net. Katie Chapman was dictating the game in the middle of the park; generating good moves with intelligent and accurate passes. Another such move led to a corner, Unitt put over an excellent centre which saw Duncan rise above everyone else and head in Fulham's fifth of the game.
The QPR defence were under relentless pressure and despite their hard work and spirit conceded another goal in the 32nd minute, when Haugenes combined with McArthur to score a well-taken goal. Two further goals followed swiftly firstly from Chapman, and then Chapman made yet another excellent defence splitting pass which saw Moore rifle the ball into the QPR net. QPR's young goalkeeper made some fine saves just before half-time which managed to keep the score down to 8- 0.
Katrine Petersen was replaced by Ronnie Gibbons after the break who had earlier in the day got back from International duty with the Republic of Ireland.
At the beginning of the second half Fulham Ladies were a little sloppy in defence but QPR were unable to capitalise on them. Once again it didn't take long for Fulham Ladies to get in their stride and Kim Jerray-Silver from just outside the penalty area hit an unstoppable shot into the top left hand corner of the net. In the 52nd minute Fulham Ladies went into double-figures as Duncan and Haugenes combined and Haugenes made it 10.
Seun Odiniyi and Kirsty Percival replaced Rachel Unitt and Sancia Duncan on 62 minutes. Manager Gaute Haugenes had called these two players up from the Reserve squad after both girls playing particularly well in recent games.
Margunn Haugenes seemed to be too busy and strong for the QPR defence to handle produced more good work down on the left flank; she put in an excellent cross, which saw Kristy Moore score with a well-taken shot.
QPR's defence were defending valiantly and their goalkeeper was making some outstanding saves, one shot she managed to push around the post after an exquisite Fulham move, and another from Moore, which she managed somehow to put over the bar. But there was nothing she could do in the 80th minute when Yankey scored an outstanding solo goal, she dribbled past a couple of players and then unleashed a cracking shot into the top left-hand corner.
Haugenes went on to score an easy tap-in after a shot from Jerray-Silver came back off the post. Then in the 90th minute after beating a couple of players on the left hand flank, Moore spotted Jerray-Silver in plenty of space and Jerray-Silver's shot was placed with aplomb into the bottom left hand corner.
Fulham Ladies were in control from beginning to end and the score could have been even more than 14 - 0 if it hadn't been for some exceptional defending at times and some marvellous saves by the QPR keeper.
Manager Gaute Haugenes said "It has been a tough week with three games played. With a couple of players on International duty and some injured, it has been hard for the remaining players in the squad. I was very impressed with them having scored so many goals in this game and pleased with the players professional attitudes".
